Read the text, then write the duty
The method is deliberately boring. Read the instrument, read the compilation it amends, list every item that places a duty, write the duty in our own words, name the evidence, and cite the item and the rule. Then test the overlap, re-read the source and publish only what the text proves.
1. One record, many outputs
data/rule.json is the only content source. The pages, the free check, the PDF, the CSV and the XLSX all read it. A correction is made in the record and regenerated, never patched into one page (R-146).
2. What counts as a unit
A unit is a rule that places a duty on a participant. Mechanical substitutions, repeals without a replacement duty and cross-reference changes are recorded in the transition page, not turned into a duty page. The record has 19 duty units and 2 reference units. The instrument has 109 Schedule 1 items; the difference is the point.
3. Plain English, then the source
Each unit has a requirement in our own words, a separate intent, a practice line, the evidence, the gaps, the preparation steps and the exact source items. The instrument's sentence is not reproduced. Defined terms stay as the instrument defines them. The strict seven-word overlap check runs against the instrument and the compilation before publish.
4. What the check decides
The free check selects units by role, system, algorithm, client and own-account activity, Crossing System, instructing arrangements, operator record reliance and ASIC direction. It then applies the date. If an answer is unsure, it returns scope incomplete and names the missing answer. It does not guess a lighter pathway.
5. What it does not decide
It does not decide whether a particular system is a Trading System or a Trading Algorithm in fact, whether a change is material, whether a control is adequate, or whether a firm complies. Those are judgements on the evidence, and the kit gives the evidence list, not a verdict.
6. Guidance and currency
The practice lines are calibrated against ASIC guidance (RG 241 and RG 265), which is linked on the sources page and never presented as the instrument. The record date is 2026-10-19. The watch re-downloads the instrument, diffs the text and the record, and fails loudly on a change. The diff is what the watch sends. A page is never updated silently.
